Tuesday Oct. 30

Sorry, I missed a few days. Here's a recap of recent events.

Wed. 10/17: We watched the T.I.B. movies and filled in a grid that detailed the beliefs of the different figures that were the basis for the T.I.B. movies.

Thursday 10/18: I collected the Enlightenment packets, and provided in-class time to finish work that was incomplete.

Friday 10/19: Quarter 1 test. I also assigned a reading guide about the French Revolution that was due on Tuesday 10/30.

Monday: Students selected new terms for the Quarter 2 daily presentations. Some of the class worked on the presentations while the others finished the F.R. reading guide.

Tuesday: I gave a spellbinding lecture about the origins of the French Revolution. Students then continued working on daily presentations, or worked on a vocabulary sheet of terms relevant to the French Revolution.

Groups worked on their "This I Believe" movie projects. On Tuesday most groups finished the T.I.B. statement and on Wednesday groups recorded the narrations.

No Homework.

Monday, October 15, 2007

October 15, 2007

Students continued working on the "This I believe" movie project. Most groups are still writing the statement that will be used as the narration in the film.

October 12, 2007: Enlightenment Movie Project

Students were put into groups of 3, and assigned a political thinker from history (mostly from the Enlightenment) to research. Students answered questions about their figure and begin to complete a "This I Believe" statement from the perspective of that person. The "This I Believe" statement will be recorded and be used as the narration for a short film each group will produce.
