April 8, and working backwards:

For the last week we've been discussing the 3 theaters of WWII. Students created power points about specific battles and then presented their work.

Today's work: An analysis of Dr. Suess war cartoons and WWII vocab.

Mea Culpa!

Okay..... I've been a little lame in my latest posting efforts. So, I've decided to turn the page and start fresh. Basically the students in our integrated program have been working on the Animal Farm/Totalitarianism project for the last few weeks. At this point students should have some sort of finished product that meets some of the project objectives.

Today, March 31, we reviewed a timeline that explains events that led up to WWII.

March 11, 12, 13 ,& 14

March 11: We discussed the Hitler Youth and watched a portion of the film Europa, Europa.

March 12: We began the film Swing Kids.

March 13: Swing Kids.

March 14: We finished Swing Kids. Essay on film due on Monday.

March 5,6,7 and 10

March 5: I lectured about the rise of the Nazis in Germany. Students were assigned a reading guide.
March 6: Students watched a segment of the film "Master Race." I collected the Russian Revolution packet.
March 7: Students began an art project that illustrates Hitler's rise to power.
March 10: Hitler's rise project.

Feb. 27 - Mar. 4

Over the course of the last 5 classes we have:
1. Watched (and answered questions) a video about "Russia's Last Tsar."
2. Worked on the Russia/Break Away Republics grid.
3. Had a lecture about Vladmir Lenin.
4. Discussed the situation after Lenin's death. Did an assignment illustrating the philosophical differences between Trotsky and Stalin.

Feb. 25 & 26

Feb. 25: Lecture: What is Totalitarianism? We also analyzed a Dr. Suess cartoon, and a segment of the film 1984 for glimpses of Totalitarian societies.

Feb. 26: Returned WWI tests. Finished the Total. lecture.
Homework: Reading Guide: Chapter 14, section 1.

Feb. 13: Students drew and explained the motivations of the leaders of the nations at the Paris Peace Conference.
